I finally got an iPad. I cheaped out and went for the original and not the iPad2. I figured I’d save 100 bucks and skip the video camera. It’s slightly thinner and lighter. Looks like the processor isn’t any real jump in speed and the battery life is the same.

Got a HTC Desire on Thursday. Worlds better than my Blackberry Tour. IPhone who!
1 More Day Til’ Apple Announcement
Well, tomorrow’s the big day. Apple will make their big announcement. All the Apple Fanboys are probably creaming their pants waiting for the new iSlatePadThingy!!
It is exciting to see what they will announce, but I know what ever it is…the price tag will be heafty!!
Looking forward to the excitement tomorrow before I go in for my surgery on Thursday. Talk about having your Hi’s and Lo’s
Roku Kung-Fu
I got a Roku box about 3 weeks ago, and I really love it. It really expands the value of my Netflix subscription. It’s super easy to setup. It also lets me view vidcast from the TWIT.TV and Revision3 networks. I don’t even listen to those podcast anymore since I can see the vids.
I downloaded a Apple app for my iTouch that lets me control the Roku via the network. This gives me the ability to put the Roku out of sight and still control it….SWEET!
I got my new 24 inch iMac yesterday. It came with a free 8GB iPod Touch. Didn’t have a lot of time to experiment with it. But, I think it will take some time getting used to the Mac OS. I was really impressed with the Touch. I like how you can download podcast over wifi and listen\watch them without having to sync to your PC. Really makes me wish I could get an iPhone. It would make my life a lot easier than having to deal with an iPod and cellphone separately.
Showing the Mac a little love today. More to come….
Windows 7 Update
I currently have Windows 7 on my laptop with a dual boot of Ubuntu.
Why am I never inclined to actually boot and use Windows 7 over Ubuntu??
Windows 7 seems like a great OS. I guess I’ve just lost all love for Microsoft. Well almost, I still use an XBox 360 : )
Yesterday I made a few BIG changes!!
I canceled my Netflix account for one. My co-worker told me that there was a new RedBox on the route I take to work. I had never used a RedBox before, but was always interested in them. I had heard good things about it. Lately I’ve been too busy to watch the moves I get from Netflix. With RedBox I can control when I get a move. And for $1 a day, it’s OK with me!!
I also cancelled my Audible account. I basically got the account so I could finish The Dark Tower series. I read books 1-4, but got tired of reading so I got books 5-7 on Audible. Audible is great, but I never have time to listen to my podcasts.
And finally, I subscribed to GameFly. There is alot of great games coming out. But, at $60 a pop I don’t get to play many of them. Also, I tend to lose interest in most games if they aren’t a game I can pickup and play for only 20-30 minutes…like Call of Duty 5 Deathmatch. Also this will give me a chance to get some of the games my brother gets on GameFly and we can play them together.
Yeah…these moves are a real “Game Changer” for me…..
I installed Windows 7 on my work laptop last night. I installed it over my Windows XP installation. I had planned on blowing my Ubuntu install away, but changed my mind. The bad part is, installing Windows 7 blew away my grub boot loader. I fixed grub by doing the following:
- Boot from a Ubuntu Live CD.
- Opened the Terminal.
- sudo grub
- grub> find /boot/grub/stage1
- grub> root (hd0,5)
- grub> setup (hd0)
**Be sure to use the number reported from the find command on step 4 when running step 5**
Grub fixed!!
